Experiential Family Therapy (EFT) Practice Test

The technique centers on re-experiencing and reframing family events to restore a coherent story and shift interaction patterns toward healthier, more connected ways of relating. In Satir Family Reconstruction, the family revisits painful or distressing memories, analyzes how roles, rules, and communication fueled problems, and then re-authorizes those events so members can see each other with more empathy. This process helps people understand how past dynamics shaped present difficulties, while practicing new, more constructive ways of interacting. The goal isn’t blame or hierarchy maintenance; it’s healing through empathy, clarified boundaries, and more expressive, open communication, leading to a more unified and flexible family system.
